It’s been 10 years since Vimanet was born. Let’s see what we’ve accomplished these past years, and let me share our excitement for the future.

People frequently ask me, “how did it all start?”, and if I knew whether or not Vimanet would still be operational after 10 years. My answer: no way!

I started the company at a time when new ventures were not called ‘startups’, there were no such thing as a VC nor business angels available in Poland. All we had was passion, talent and ambition. These three factors, in combination with a lot of hard work (and as with everything in life, a pinch of luck as well), were the building blocks for Vimanet.

When I started the company, it was just a friend of mine and me, working as freelancers in a tiny office around Krakow’s suburbs. We were both very focused on simply writing software, that was our passion and our goal - to deliver top quality digital products, and that has never changed. We didn’t aim for growth, revenue nor for making investors happy (since we did not have any). We just did what we loved. 

Over time, our passion and quality began getting noticed by clients. I always tell young people, do not aim for the money, however, work with passion, be a value, and eventually, money will follow.

Over time, we got more and more projects, and there came a point when we could not handle all the requests on our own anymore; therefore, we decided to begin growing. I always see this as the first milestone in the company history. We hired our first employees and this resulted in a completely changed mindset for me. Now, I was no longer responsible only for myself, but I was also responsible for our other employees as well.

People

People is what makes every company, they are the driving force for the entire company. I have been very lucky to meet and work with all the fantastic people that have created and shaped Vimanet to what it is today, and I couldn't be more proud of their successes, both from clients and our employees. It’s been a pleasure to watch these guys develop, and how the company has influenced both their professional and private lives. We do not celebrate the success of the business, however, we celebrate the success of all the people that have made this journey possible. Just to name a few significant people, Mirek, Pawel, Maciek, Michal, Lukasz and Krystian. Collectively, these guys have spent more than 40 years at Vimanet! That’s extraordinary; I would like to thank all of our current and former employees.

We are all very proud of all we have achieved in these past 10 years.

Future

It’s been 10 years, and you may ask,“what is going to happen next?” After a decade, we are still a small company, and we like it that way! We value all the benefits from being a small organization - from the great atmosphere and close relationships, to the flexibility and agility. Being a small company gives huge competitive advantage in today’s fast moving digital world, as technology is changing with a speed that the world has never experienced before. We find that it’s much easier to learn, adapt and follow new trends for small companies.

We live in exciting times, the world is digitalizing at an incredible pace, and the adoption of cloud, robots, AI and IoT, to name a few, are really changing how businesses operate and how people live. No one knows what the world will look like in the future, but one thing is for certain, demand for software will only grow, exponentially. This is where we fit into the picture, because we love making software and this is what we are the best at.

Our recipe for a success is very simple, keep learning, be a value, work with passion and have fun. It’s been an amazing journey so far and there are plenty of new exciting projects ahead of us!
